Backlinks are the incoming links to a web page or a domain. This is a web page but it contains a link to the domain name of our website gopixelperfect.com. That would technically make that link a backlink to the home page. Although it is important to have a good internal linking structure within your website or blog to help search engines index your pages easier, it is also important to have a good external linking structure as well. This is your backlink structure.
If you saw a link that said click here, how would you know what that link went to? The answer is simple, you wouldn’t.
Now, if you saw a link that said go to google you might have a better idea of what it would do when you clicked on it wouldn’t you?
This is key to getting good search engine rankings. When the search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing find your website they crawl through the pages by following the links on those pages. If the anchor text or link text says click here, it has no value to search engines because it doesn’t describe where it is linking to. It is much better to use anchor text that accurately describes what the link is pointing to in order to give your readers a better idea of what a link is and so the search engines will know what your page is about as well.
There are tons of possibilities to get good links back to your website. Start a YouTube channel, run an email newsletter, write guest posts on blogs, write articles and submit them to free directories such as Squidoo.
